Delivery Manager

Performs the role of Delivery Manager and Scrum Master for a portfolio of projects within the Technology Team.
Managing relationships with Business Product owners and external clients to ensure that business objectives are
reflected in the technical processes which they manage. Leading several streams of IT specialists and scheduling
in the SDLC Process. Managing a set of projects (potentially across teams).

Areas of responsibility may include but not limited to

Management of all activities within the SDLC including:

  • Size, forecast, plan, monitor, report and control aspects of the SDLC
  • Scheduling and prioritisation of tasks and resources
  • Coordinate: Design, Build, Test, Deliver, Fix, Change Requests across multiple teams (external,
    outsourced, offshore and onshore)
  • Facilitate Scrum Activities – Daily standups, backlog grooming & refinement, retrospectives and
    demos
  • Ensure that Project milestones are met through active issue resolution, timeous escalations and
    direct management of resources
  • Lead and manage project resources.
  • Plan, monitor and report on software delivery
  • Meet project goals and objectives within the overall scope, time frame, cost, quality, standards and
    SLA
  • Capacity management – delegation of tasks, review on execution and providing feedback to team
    members
  • Issue management – Taking ownership, driving resolution, escalation, prevention of issues and
    removing blockers and distractions whilst encouraging the teams to self-organise.
  • Prioritisation – Participating and enabling the business prioritisation process with product owner
  • Risk Management – Management of risks to the delivery timelines and appropriate escalations
  • Reporting – Project progress updates to management and project stakeholders
  • Maintain and update the scheduling system
  • Continuous Improvement – Foster a culture of empowerment and safety that drives continuous
    feedback and improvement as well as instilling a culture of predictable and continuous delivery.
  • Project budget tracking and management
  • Mentor and guide the project team where required
  • Develop high performing teams – Build quality products, delivering customer value in a fast paced
    environment
  • Ensure quality system delivery
  • Vendor management – capacity, work allocations, quality, cost and SLA
  • Guide solutions towards the proposed architecture
  • Engage with key stakeholders on system delivery
  • Active communication and stakeholder management
  • Ensuring alignment to business requirements
  • Building trust with clients by displaying managerial competence
  • Understanding business requirements, business strategy and direction, risks and impact
  • Acting as consultant to internal and external clients
  • Interfacing to other teams where required
  • Perform Project Management activities across multiple projects
  • Coordinate work activities between the client and development team (scheduling JAD sessions)

Education / Qualifications / Accreditations with Professional Body

  • Minimum IT degree level education (BCom or BSc in information systems or computer science)
  • Knowledge of ITIL, CMMI, PCMM
  • A recognized Scrum Master certification (CSM / PSM / CSPO / PSPO)
  • or Other Agile Certifications (SAFe – highly preferred)

Technical Skills, Knowledge and Experience

  • Minimum 5-6 years’ experience in IT Project Management
  • Understanding of software development principles
  • Technical project experience (Java)
  • Experience in Health Insurance
  • ITIL services framework
  • Leading diverse teams
  • Knowledgeable in Agile management tools, techniques and systems
  • Exposure to a Pre-Sales environment including RFP’s
  • Strong Consulting experience and business acumen
  • Good experience working and leading cross functional scrum teams
  • Business experience and product knowledge
  • Exposure and knowledge of industry compliance standards and legislation
