PURPOSE:

To facilitate Business Unit operational function level (mining, beneficiation, engineering etc. or for a smaller business unit) improvement teams to realise business goals aligned with Business Unit improvement targets.

MAJOR CHALLENGES: Translating business goals and challenges to functional and area targets for the Business Unit. Facilitating operational teams to improve performance. Analysing of operational team’s performance.

Minimum Requirements

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • B Eng (Relevant) (Essential/Minimum)
  • Certificate First Line Management (Essential/Minimum)

EXPERIENCE:

  • 5 years Business improvement- or business excellence, economical evaluations, improvement methodologies.
  • Importance: Essential/Minimum
  • Involvement: Operational

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Psychometric Assessment (Essential/Minimum) (To be conducted by Exxaro)
  • Certificate of Fitness (Essential/Minimum) (To be conducted by Exxaro)

Duties & Responsibilities
The incumbent will inter alia be responsible for the following:

Best Practice and Knowledge Management

  • Intellectual property management and protection
  • Create and manage professional networks
  • Participate in tertiary educational relationships
  • Participate in professional external forums
  • Continuously monitors exchange and preservation of information between operations and individuals to facilitate effective knowledge management.
  • Stay abreast with advances in field of business improvement and innovation

Business Performance, Operations and Continuous Improvement

  • Ensure Business Improvement (BI) initiatives target the current focus areas in order to achieve Business Unit (BU) and functional area targets
  • Track performance against targets

Business Review Process

  • Support the business review process by evaluating critical performance areas – 6 monthly, quarterly and monthly within operational function level (mining, beneficiation, engineering etc. or for a smaller business unit)
  • Implement and track metrics to enable measurement of process efficiency and effectiveness; auditing of current processes and identification of areas of opportunity

Customer and Client Relationship Management

  • Support core business by ensuring appropriate stakeholder relationships toward enhancing corporate profile
  • Manage internal and external relations, including the interface with external providers or other functions responsible to ensure that business needs are met, and employees are satisfied

Optimisation and Efficiency

  • Execute Business Improvement (BI)/Operational Excellence (OE) framework and process on operational function level (mining, beneficiation, engineering etc. or for a smaller business unit)
  • Implement common operational/BI initiatives for an operational level (mining, beneficiation, engineering etc. or for a smaller business unit)
  • Facilitate breakthrough projects at operational level (mining, beneficiation, engineering etc. or for a smaller business unit)
  • Facilitate knowledge transfer and contribute to business optimisation function Communities of Practice (COP)
  • Coordinate technical skills supporting the BU/functional unit BI Process
  • Support BI/OE initiatives through business analysis, root cause analysis, idea generation facilitation and structured innovation
