Applying for a Malaysian passport is really easy these days. You can enter the nearest immigration office or Urban Transformation Centre (UTC), and you can walk out with a new passport in just a few hours.

However, did you know that you can also renew your Malaysian passport online? You can skip the usual queue and even pay for your passport via credit card.

Below are the steps and requirements of the Malaysia Passport Application Online Process

Applicant must fill in all the relevant information in the application page. Any false or inaccurate information given during the application will be rejected and liable for legal action under the Section 12(1)(c) Passport Act 1966 (Act 150)

  • Posses Malaysian Identity Card MyKAD (New version of IC)
  • Age at the time of application should be 13 years and above
  •  The uploaded photo must be in the form of softcopy taken by a professional.
  •  Able to print the payment receipt
  •  Payment by Credit Card Only

Steps to Apply Online for Passport

After you’ve made your payment, you’ll need to print your receipt which is required for passport collection. You must collect the passport in person and you also must bring your current passport. According to the English site, the collection time will be determined by the system and it will be stated on the receipt.

It is worth pointing out that the BM version states that renewal applications made on a working day before 3PM can be collected on the same day.

If you renew after 3PM, your new passport will be ready for collection from 10AM the next working day. You can also check the status of your application here.

The passport renewal fee remains unchanged for online application. It costs RM200 for 5 years for Malaysians aged 13 to 59. The renewal fee for senior citizens aged 60 and above, as well as children aged 12 and below is RM100 for 5 years.
